In recent years, problems relating to environmental pollution or accelerating population have negatively influenced the life of Earthers. The demand for space exploration to find a new habitable planet has risen, and numerous people are agreeing with this idea. However, with an enormous amount of budget that we have spent and what we have achieved over the past few years, I believe that this investment is worthless. In the video, I will show you various opinions towards space exploration, why moving to the other planets is challenging and hopeless as well as how urgent realistic issues will improve with the big amount of money that we splurged on space exploration.
My first target audience is everyone around the world. The world is good or bad depends mostly on the humans, and the decision to continue supporting the space exploration also depends on them. In the video, the way that I prove my arguments is well organized and easily understandable, using reliable information so that everyone without much knowledge about astronomy and aerospace can understand. My second target audience is governments and authorities that are spending a large amount of money on space exploration. These people are the only ones having the abilities to whether conducting space programs or not. With an enormous budget, they can also help other current issues such as poverty, healthcare system, or education be better.
I choose to make a video for my arguments rather than doing a website or a poster because of the following reasons. Firstly, videos can be easily viral on social media platforms like Facebook or Youtube, and people nowadays are more likely to watch videos rather than reading a poster or a storybook. Secondly, videos will bring audience more visual effects based on motions and emotional effects thanks to music. The use of rhetorical methods will be more effective and easier when we are working with videos. My original rhetorical purpose of my arguments is mostly using logos to explain why we should not invest in space exploration. However, doing this project helps my arguments be more persuasive due to the effects of images and sounds. I have more ideas to use pathos when making the videos.
Regarding my choice of images, music effects, or sounds, they actually depend on the content that I want to express. In the very beginning, I show the video of launching the Falcon 9 and the positive quote of Elon Musk to demonstrate the hope towards space exploration. Then, I point out some positive effects of space exploration. In this part, I use the inspirational music from WeVideo to enhance the emotional effects for my content. Moving to the part where I talk about the disadvantages of space exploration, I use quite serious music with images about the consequences to environment when launching rockets. I also include the opinion against space programs of Piers Bizony – a space historian and also a science journalist – which is about the actual purpose of these programs. When discussing my viewpoints about obstacles that contribute to the impossibility of moving to other planets, recent images about some potential “second home” are used to describe intended events. It is truly impossible to get images about the future space programs that we will make if we still believe in life existence on other planets. Moreover, I also apply the voice from Google Translate to explain some concepts relating to habitable planets, which, I believe, will be more academic and formal. Finally, I use pictures about urgent issues on the Earth to call for more consideration on them. Sad music is used to expose how bad they are, which prompts everyone to take action. My use of logos and ethos will be expressed through statistics and research of scientists or astronomers. The information will be presented by text and graphs. Pathos is utilized through the music or sound effects.
In conclusion, I hope that through this video, people around the world can change their thinking about space exploration, particularly stop dreaming of colonizing in other planets. Instead, everyone should care more about current urgent issues on the Earth such as poverty or deforestation.

Reflection
The Inquiry 4 brought me an opportunity to learn a lot of techniques in making a video. I learned how to use images, music, sound effects to convert my arguments, ideas from text form to a video. I believe that producing a video is also a crucial skill that we need to know and I can apply it to other classes whenever I want to express my ideas in other forms rather than just texting. About my video, the part that I feel most confident about is its music, which is quite suitable with each of my separated arguments. However, the thing that I still need more time to work is about my transitions between my ideas, which are quite not smooth. During the process of making the video, I felt struggled to get the resources from Youtube at first, but after asking my friends, I knew how to capture my screen while watching Youtube videos and edit it for my own. I think the best part of this assignment is that the professor allows us to remediate our Inquiry 3 in various forms of media, ranging from videos, posters, websites, comic books, etc. Hence, we can enhance our skills not only in next courses at Miami but also when we have a job in the future.
